FAQ
Learn more about the shop with answers to frequently asked questions.
1. Do you service other vehicles besides European makes?
Yes. Although we specialize in European Cars, The Little Speed Shop is fully equipped with experienced technicians and equipment to service any make and model.
2. Can you service my vehicle while I wait?
Yes, in some cases services can be performed while you relax in our lounge and catch up on an episode of Top Gear. Depending on the service or repair needed and scheduling availability we will do our best to accommodate you. In most cases though, we do prefer to have your vehicle for the duration of the day, to ensure we can perform the proper tests and services required without having to rush.
3. Do I need to make an appointment? What if I have an emergency and need to get my car towed?
Yes, we have a very busy schedule and prefer you make an appointment. If there is an emergency you can always drop off your vehicle 24 hours a day or have it towed directly to our shop. We will get to it at our earliest convenience. If you need a tow during our business hours, we subcontract out and can arrange a pickup.
4. Do you do New York State Inspections?
We sure do. Schedule an appointment today.
5. Can I drop my car off when you are closed?
Yes, you may drop off your vehicle 24 hours a day in our well lit parking lot. There is an after-hours key drop box located on our building (1770 Emerson in the back by the garage door). Please include required information on the envelope located in the key drop box.
6. What will it cost to fix my car?
Every vehicle and repair is different so it is difficult to predict how much it will cost. If you provide us with your contact information and vehicle information, we will prepare an estimate for you based on our experience and standardized book time. Included in each service or repair is a thorough safety inspection regardless of what your vehicle originally came in for to ensure safety and reliability. If you are a first time client, we request you bring in your car for us to do a thorough diagnostic. Before the work is complete, the client will have to approve all work.
7. Do you do paint work or bodywork?
We do not do paint or bodywork in-house. Usually we will subcontract and oversee needed paint and body repairs or refer you to one of our trusted partners.
8. Can I purchase parts and install them myself? Do you have access to used parts? Can I bring my own parts?
We have access to a variety of OEM, aftermarket, used and performance parts. Feel free to call if you have a specific part in mind and we would be happy to provide you with pricing and information. As a rule of thumb, we would always recommend new OEM parts. That being said there are times that a used or aftermarket part would better suite a customer’s needs. We have access to many different parts outlets and we will work with the customer to figure out the best, most cost effective solution for you. You are welcome to bring your own parts (whether OEM, Aftermarket or Performance) and we can certainly install them for you at a slightly higher hourly labor rate.
